Katie O'Connell, DI, MAECSE
I am originally from Chicago, IL and obtained my bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Services with a focus on Early Childhood Education from Michigan State University (Go Green!). After teaching for a few years, I attended graduate school at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and majored in Child Development and Early Education. I have been living in Denver since January 2020. The majority of my career has been in center settings as a teacher, director, and founder of a school; my passion has always been working with young children and their families. While I have always worked with children with special rights (needs), I have felt a pull to a career in early intervention since my nephew with special needs was born. As a Developmental Interventionist, it is my goal to empower families and caregivers in providing the best care for their child. I do this by building a relationship through open communication and collaboration, using play-based intervention that focuses on the whole child, and by highlighting each child strengths as a capable individual while working together focusing on areas of growth.
When not working, I am in the mountains hiking, skiing, and rock climbing with my dog, Beau. I can’t wait to meet you and your family!
